Our boat is brand new at the start of 2005; it sails very easily with roller furling genoa and mainsail, has lazy jacks and open sail cover for the main to drop easily into - all control lines are back to the cabin top.

FEATURES - It has 3 good size double cabins with two heads, one with full shower, one with hand held shower, and transom hand held shower for easy salt removal!.

There are two fresh water tanks which with normal prudent usage will typically last you for a week but you can fill up at several easy access marinas. Hot water system. The batteries stay charged well if you run the engine about 1 hour in the morning and one hour at night.

RIB Dinghy with 15 HP outboard is included at no extra charge. Tow it behind.

For comfort there are two electric compressor fridges and full calor gas two burner stove and oven, rail fitting BBQ. For navigation and safety there's a cell phone, VHF, GPS, autopilot, wind, depth, speed and log instrumentation.

PROVISIONS - You are provided with chart, BVI cruising guide, basic plotting nav instruments and you will receive a full chart briefing outlining where to go (and where not to go!) before departure.

June 2006 Wilson's provision request form

All utensils, dish soap, bedding, towels etc are provided.

If you don't want to carry snorkel gear you can rent at reasonable prices from the local dive shop.

The BVI are beautiful to sail - very easy navigation and nice constant trade winds in the E/NE 5-15 knots range for the most part. Best time to go is from Nov through end May but June, July are good too if a little hotter, and maybe less windy.

EXPENSES - The cost extras are:
Provisioning ... which you can either do yourself on arrival or you can pre order by fax and they will deliver the stores direct to the boat (we do that - it's much easier).

For a family of four for a week it's about USD500 for all breakfast lunch and 3 evening meals depending what you choose - there are many restaurants on beaches by moorings/anchorages for evening and lunches too

Hull damage waiver.. which is USD30 per day

Small fees for national park cruising permits (about USD25 per week).

Charges for public moorings.... at night in various places, if you choose to use them, typically USD25 per night but you can anchor most places for free. If you pick up a mooring during the day they are free.

If you need a skipper for all or part of the time we can recommend a good guy - that would take up one cabin and cost about USD130 per day - he is freelance.

TRAVEL:
From Europe - either come in through the USA, e.g. Miami then to St Thomas USVI with short ferry ride to Tortola BVI., or another popular route from the UK is London - Antigua (direct I think on BWIA) then Antigua to Tortola.
From USA - Fly into San Juan, Puerto Rico, then a short hop to Tortola. (Beef Island airport code EIS). Our favourite choice for this is via Cape Air.
